The inaugural AFL Women's competition was a huge success. Although there were supporters who anticipated its impact, there were many who were surprised by the significance it had. Forty writers have come together to contribute to The Women's Footy Almanac 2017 which is a game by game account of the season which also includes essays about the what the 2017 AFLW season means to people, and why. This entertaining and insightful book is an account of sport in its social context. It is the story of football but also of football's impact on Australian life.
