The novel's about a bloke called Bloke but it's the women who explain manhood and his identity. A disappointed man always heads bush but never knows what to expect. The fishing inductry tries to be straight but never quite manages, and Bloke tries fitting into it with the same result. He's looking for himself but ends up finding a continent, Australia.
