This collection of short films by Francois Ozon allows us insight into an artist and filmmaker constantly evolving, intent on showing us the sexual and the intimate, who can make the ordinary seem extraordinary, who is eclectic in his choice of style and subject matter, ultimately Ozon is not afraid to delve beneath the surface to uncover the secrets of sex and obsession. From the loss of innocence in ACTION VERITE (1994), in which an innocent game of truth and dare for four teenage boys and girls turns into a revelation on the arrival of adulthood, the acceptance of sexual identity in the beautiful and exuberant gay short SUMMER DRESS (1996), to the arrival of death in LA PETITE MORT (1995), which tells of a young man's obsession with a father he has not spoken to in years, is a poignant piece on family, homosexuality and the past we cannot escape, no matter how much we try. And finally, two of Ozon's most celebrated works, the surreal and scary X2000 (1998) a quiet reflection on the day after, and the hilarious, downright sexy series of vignettes that make up the revealing BED SCENES (1994). This collection also features the rarely seen sexually charged and terrifying featurette SEE THE SEA (1998), with a sublimely scary performance from Ozon's occasional screenwriting partner, Marina De Van. Directed by Francois Ozon.
