Norwood : it changed the face of Melbourne
Johnson, Roland S.2013
Book
In 1955 a priceless piece of Australian history was demolished: Norwood, in Brighton, a Melbourne suburb. Roland Johnson, the author, was the last occupant. He takes the reader on a tour of the house with evocative descriptions and sumptuous photos. He then traces the history of Melbourne, with the events and characters that led to the building of Norwood, through the founding of Melbourne, the gold rush, the land speculation with its booms and busts and the various colourful people who lived in this 'castle'.
