This is a touching story about a hunting dog, faithfully devoted to his master, an elderly writer. He lives alone and has no one in the world but his loyal Bim. After Ivan Ivanovich is taken to hospital, the dog is moved from one house to another, to live in the families of strangers. Bim experienced a lot of suffering, for he had never known the whole truth about human nature.
