Wedding Sari Showdown - Part 2

Computer Files, Websites
Three years after they defied their families by marrying secretly in a Melbourne registry office, Sikh-Australian Ramona and her Marwari husband, Anurag are expecting their first child. While Ramona is prepared to welcome her mother-in-law into her Melbourne home prior to the birth and accept advice, there is a limit to how far she will acquiesce and relinquish power. Wedding Sari Showdown - Part 2 follows the unique transition of Ramona and Anurag from an independent couple to a young Indian family - all under the ever-watchful eyes of Ramona's mother-in-law, Rajini. The difference between Ramona and her traditional Mawari mother-in-law couldn't be greater - and Rajini is determined to make sure Ramona sees things the right way before she becomes the mother of her grandchild! THE WEDDING SARI SHOWDOWN series is a fascinating exploration of the complexity of relationships between first and second generations in the large Indian diaspora in Australia. As a cross-cultural study, this two-part observational documentary series offers rare insights into inter-generational transactions that are both specific to Ramona and Anurag's family, and universal, even beyond the Indian community.
