A stroke is a brain attack, which can affect thinking, movement, speech and/or senses, and is caused by blockage or rupture of a blood vessel within or surrounding the brain. When a brain attack occurs, it kills brain cells in the immediate area. A stroke can occur at any age, even in babies and infants.
