A video from ECU's archive of documentaries and teaching films. What do people do when they consume? Douglas Holt systematically details the myriad of consumer actions which constitute consuming. He categorises these consumption actions within three existing metaphors: consuming-as-experience, consuming-as-integration and consuming-as-classification. To these he adds a fourth dimension, consuming-as-play, to form a taxonomy which provides an alternative way to define and understand consumption practices. Produced by David Crewes.
