This is the story of the people who lived for thousands of years in Australia's deserts. They comprise vast seas of sand and spinifex encompassing an area of Central Australia large enough to contain the British Isles twice over. In these areas known as the Gibson, the Great Sandy Desert and the Great Victoria Desert people lived for more than 40,000 years, and adapted to survive in one of the harshest environments known to man. The Aborigines who lived in these deserts consisted of many tribes with names that were created long before English became a language. They were the Pitjandjara, Aranda, Walbiri, Luritja, Pintubi and many others. The Pintubi is the story of one of the last groups of desert people who made contact with Europeans in 1932 and the impact it had on their lives. Episode 4 - Death of a Dream Thousands of tourists arrive by bus and car to gaze and photograph the giant monolith Uluru in Central Australia. Few realise the significance and importance this place holds for Aborigines. When some old men visit a cave in the area to participate in the Pintubi fire dreaming, they discover tourists have been there. The men resign themselves to the fact that their dream is slowly dying
