The Handmaid's Tale season 6 concludes with June's ongoing fight against Gilead, which culminates in an attack on the commanders during Serena's wedding and the subsequent liberation of Boston by the American army. June finally reunites with her mother and daughter, but not her daughter Hannah. Nick and Commander Lawrence die in a plane crash, and Janine is returned to her daughter. The season ends with June beginning to write her story, with the understanding that her fight for Hannah is not over.
