Built in 1873 for the pioneer engineer William Brown, Terracedale is one of Northcote's original grand houses and claimed to be the site of Melbourne's first private telephone service. This image shows the pitched corrugated iron roof, polychrome brickwork around flat-arched windows and chimneys, lower-storey bluestone brickwork and foliage backing onto the Merri Creek.
