Image shows Hugh Newell standing in front of his family butcher shop on the corner of High Streets and Regent Streets, Preston. The gas lamp at the front of the shop was leased from the Collingwood Gas Company who charged $17 per year for lighting, extinguishing and supply of gas. These gas lamps ran between Northcote and Preston.
