Kalen Rance, fifteen, lives a mundane existence on Earth until the arrival of a mysterious stranger prompts his widowed father, David, to take him to the Martian colonies. The adventure quickly turns sour when David is killed in a shuttle crash and agents claiming to be from the government try to deport Kalen. Determined to find out why his father was killed, he goes on the run with the help of two new Martian born friends, feisty Jenna Quill and bumbling Tye Bingley. Together they learn David had lived a secret life on Mars before Kalen was born and that he had returned to Mars to find his lost daughter, Cassandra. Kalen has an unknown Martian born sister! When they meet her, Cassandra is found to possess otherworldly, almost alien perception. Kalen needs to stay and help her find out why.
