Inspector Salvo Montalbano is the fictional creation of Sicilian writer, Andrea Camilleri. Montalbano's character, and his manner, encapsulate much of Sicilian mythology - brooding philosophy, whip smart dialogue, rugged beauty, superb food - and of course - astute detective work.
